Luhut Reveals his Life Transition Strategy with Covid-19
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan revealed, as one of the transition processes for living with Covid-19, it has been decided to include indicators of vaccination coverage in evaluating the reduction in PPKM levels. Especially for the runway down from level 3 to level 2, and level 2 to level 1 in Java and Bali.
Luhut explained, these include, vaccination coverage for dose 1 must reach 50 percent and vaccination coverage for the elderly must reach 40 percent, as an additional requirement to be able to go down from level 3 to level 2. While dose 1 vaccination coverage must reach 70 percent and vaccination coverage for the elderly must reach 60 percent as an additional requirement to be able to go down from level 2 to level 1.
“For cities that are currently at level 2, they will be given 2 weeks to be able to pursue this target. If it cannot be achieved, the status will be raised to level 3,” Luhut said in a virtual press conference, Monday (13/9).
Achieving the target of vaccination coverage, according to him, is very important considering that vaccines have been proven to protect us from serious illness that requires hospital treatment or death, especially for the elderly.
“Therefore, the high vaccination target as mentioned above is one of the main keys in the phase of Living with Covid-19,” he said.
Luhut continued, as Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that the objectives and direction of the policy were consistently adhered to, but the strategy and field management had to be dynamic to adapt to problems and challenges.
