Covid-19 Cases Drop 92 Percent from the Peak of the Second Wave

The rate of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia on Tuesday (7/9) decreased by 92 percent from the peak situation of the second wave which reached 43,925 cases, said an official from the Indonesian Ministry of Health.

“The peak of case reports was reported on July 15, 2021, with a total of 43,925 cases in a day. As of September 7, 2021, it has decreased by 92 percent,” said Spokesperson for Covid-19 Vaccination of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi in the PPKM Press Release agenda which was followed from the channel YouTube FMB9ID, Wednesday (8/9).

He said the peak of the second wave of Covid-19 occurred for the first time in the Java and Bali regions which was in line with the expansion of the findings of the Delta variant in the region. “The peak of cases also occurred in the regions of Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and Papua. This is also consistent with the distribution pattern of the Delta variant, which does have a very high transmission rate,” he said.

Nadia said the government continues to strengthen “testing”, “tracing”, and “treatment” (3T) as well as enforcement of public compliance with health protocols and vaccinations to reduce the rate of Covid-19 cases in the region.

“We continue to monitor what variants are circulating in the community because this will greatly affect the policies and interventions that we will take, such as the PPKM that we implemented in early July 2021,” he said.

Nadia said the national Covid-19 case situation is currently at level 2 or decreased from July 2021 which was at level 4. Currently, there are only two provinces that are still at level 4, namely Bali and North Kalimantan, while others are already at level 4. at level 3.
